A Wild Safari Adventure in Nairobi National Park

Val High School students embarked on an unforgettable safari adventure in Nairobi National Park, organized by Jumbo Fish Farm (JFF) as part of its mission to promote environmental awareness and conservation. Their adventure kicked off with an exhilarating game drive through the park’s diverse landscapes, where they encountered majestic wildlife such as rhinos, giraffes, and lions.

As they navigated the park’s varied terrain, students encountered the unexpected challenge of getting stuck in the mud, adding an adventurous twist to their safari experience. Despite the muddy detour, the excitement of the day kept their spirits high as they continued to explore and learn about Kenya’s rich natural heritage.

The safari was more than just an exciting day out; it was a chance for students to witness firsthand the beauty of Kenya’s wildlife and the importance of conservation efforts aimed at protecting these incredible creatures. The experience left them with lasting memories and a deeper appreciation for the efforts being made to preserve Kenya’s natural treasures.

During their safari at Nairobi National Park, Val High School students encountered a majestic rhinoceros. Fun fact: Rhinos have poor eyesight but a keen sense of smell and hearing, making them highly alert to their surroundings. They also spotted a graceful giraffe. Fun fact: Giraffes have unique heart valves that prevent blood from rushing to their heads when they bend down to drink water or graze.

The adventurous journey through Nairobi National Park after heavy rains added an element of excitement to their safari experience. The mud caked on the van’s wheels reflected the challenging conditions within the park, making the adventure even more memorable.

Nairobi National Park is one of the city’s green “lungs,” providing essential recreational green space for the future of sustainable cities. Other “lungs” include recreational green spaces like Karura Forest, Ngong Road Forest Sanctuary, Uhuru Gardens, and the Nairobi Arboretum. Interesting facts about the park include its proximity to the city, diverse wildlife, and unique conservation efforts.

During the safari, the students were thrilled to see lions, giraffes, and other wildlife up close, creating memories they will cherish forever. The experience was a perfect blend of adventure, education, and appreciation for the natural world.
