JUMBO FISH FARM’S TOURS
Jumbo Fish Farm is committed to providing an interactive and educational experience for all visitors at Jumbo Fish Farm. We offer farm tours that are ideal for students, teachers, and tourists interested in learning about sustainable aquaculture practices and the value of preserving our aquatic ecosystems.
During the farm visit, participants will have the opportunity to:
- Learn about Fish Farming:
The tour will begin with an informative session on the basics of fish farming, including the types of commonly farmed fish, the necessary equipment and supplies, and the techniques used in managing fish populations. Our experienced tour guides will be on hand to answer any questions and provide detailed explanations.
- Visit our hatchery:
Guests will have an opportunity to visit our hatchery and see how young fish are nurtured, the process of hatching and early stage fish care. In the hatchery, guests will also learn about general hatchery management before being transferred to the main farm.
- Explore our fish pond:
Visitors will be taken on a tour of our fish ponds, where they will observe the fish and learn about their feeding and growth cycles. Guests will be provided with fish feeds at a price of Ksh. 50 to give them an opportunity to practice fish feeding on their own as they learn. They will also learn about the techniques used to keep the ponds clean and healthy.
- Fish and grill
At only Ksh. 1000 per head, guests will have an opportunity to witness and take part in the process of harvesting fish. That means our team will provide you with a fishing line to fish your own fish! It does not stop there. You will have an opportunity to prepare or learn how to prepare and enjoy your fished catfish or tilapia.
In addition to the farm visit, there are several other attractions in the area that visitors can explore, including:
- Mumias Sugar Factory:
Located just a few kilometers from our farm, the Mumias Sugar Factory is one of the largest sugar processing plants in Kenya. Visitors can learn about the history and production process of sugar in Kenya, and even take a tour of the factory.
- Kakamega Forest Reserve:
The Kakamega Forest Reserve is a lush, tropical forest that is home to many rare species of birds and primates. Visitors can take a guided forest tour and observe these unique animals in their natural habitat.
