Raising Freshness, Feeding the Future

Training and capacity building are crucial for improving knowledge of best management practices in sustainable aquaculture. In collaboration with the Kenya Fisheries Service, we have developed specialized modules to address key areas for sustainable solutions.

Raising Freshness, Feeding the Future

Farmer Training & Capacity Building

Our Training and Capacity Building program is designed to equip fish farmers, aquaculture entrepreneurs, students, and institutions with practical knowledge and technical skills needed to succeed in modern aquaculture. The training combines classroom instruction, field demonstrations, and hands-on practical sessions conducted by our experienced aquaculture professionals. Programs are structured into Basic, Intermediate, and Advanced levels to accommodate participants at different stages of their aquaculture journey.

Basic Training

The Basic module introduces participants to the fundamentals of aquaculture, including fish biology, pond preparation, water quality management, stocking procedures, feeding practices, and routine farm maintenance.

    Intermediate Training

The Intermediate module focuses on improving productivity and farm management through topics such as:

  • Fish nutrition
  • Record keeping
  • Breeding techniques
  • Pond fertilization
  • Disease prevention

Advanced Training

The Advanced module targets commercial farmers and aquaculture investors, offering specialized training in hatchery management, Recirculatory Aquaculture Systems (RAS), cage farming, fish health management, value addition, and aquaculture innovations.

In addition to technical training, the program integrates agribusiness and entrepreneurship components to help participants understand profitability, market access, financial planning, and sustainable farm management.

Through continuous mentorship and follow-up support, the program empowers farmers to adopt best aquaculture practices, improve production efficiency, reduce losses, and build sustainable livelihoods within the blue economy sector.
